Hi, I'm Katie and I'm the admin for this forum. I was born with a left side hemiplegia and much of my formative years I spent in and out of hospital. I did attend Charlton Park School (special needs) until I was 9 years old when I was transferred to a mainstream primary school and then onto comprehensive school. After finishing college I worked in a London art gallery. In 1991 I moved to Norfolk with my best friend and life was great. It was not until 1999 when I first started to use a stick that things started to deteriorate and in 2001 my right shoulder froze and that was put down to wear and tear. I joined the civil service in 2001 and in 2007 I was retired on medical grounds. Fast forward five years to 2012 and I now have a wheelchair accessible bungalow and I am a partial wheelchair user. I was diagnosed with lower lumber spinal stenosis in 2010 and I was told last in 2011 that I have post-impairment sydrome. Since leaving work in 2007 I have looked for some sort of support from the CP community and I have found that there is plenty of suppoft for children and young adults (under 25's) but nothing for people in their 30's or 40's and beyond, so I want to try and change that with this forum. I want it to be both fun and informative and a place where people can come if they need support.
